Material As A Narrative Device
Honoring leadership with clarity and permanence meant finding a form that could carry the narrative forward. The project called for a unified framework capable of displaying chairmen, donors, and residents together in a single, cohesive system.
The contours of the Bay informed a sculptural bronze line that grounds the endowment wall and moves through the hallway. Its surface includes subtle etched anatomical illustrations, creating a textured backdrop for chairman tributes, donor recognition, and resident portraits.
As the form continues, it establishes a clear rhythm for all three groups, provides a flexible structure for yearly resident updates, and ties the corridor into one intentional experience. The result is an installation that feels refined, adaptable, and distinctly connected to UCSF’s identity.
